Glue tabs, seams and fold lines.
What every line on the sheet means and how to change the tabs.
Short answer
- Solid line
- Cut
- Dashed line
- Mountain fold, ridge away from you
- Dash-dot line
- Valley fold, groove towards you
- Small flap
- Glue tab, fold under and glue
Which lines do I cut?
Only the solid outlines. Every dashed and dash-dot line is a fold and must stay intact.
Cut just inside the line rather than through the middle of it if you want the ink to disappear on the finished model.
How do the numbered seams work?
Each seam prints the same number on both sides. Tab 14 glues to the edge marked 14, anywhere else on the build.
This matters most on large builds where two edges look identical. Trust the numbers over the shape.
How wide should the tabs be?
The default suits regular paper. Widen the tabs for heavy card stock and narrow them for small models where a wide tab would show through.
Tabs are included in the printed footprint of each piece, so widening them can push pieces onto more sheets.
Do I need a scoring tool?
No. Folding by hand along a straightedge works fine. A dry ballpoint pen or a blunt tool gives crisper folds on thick card if you have one.
Any gluing advice?
Use a thin layer of glue, hold each join for a few seconds and build one colored part at a time before joining parts together.
