How do I convert OBJ to papercraft?
Drop the OBJ into the studio, set the finished size, press unfold, edit if you want, then export PDF and print at 100%.
- Drop in the .obj file, or a ZIP of the .obj with its .mtl and textures to print in color.
- Set the finished height, width or depth in millimeters or inches.
- Unfold. Coplanar triangles merge into single panels and seams follow sharp edges.
- Edit seams and piece placement, or leave the automatic result as it is.
- Export: PDF to print, SVG for Cricut, Silhouette or a laser, DXF for CAD.
Why is OBJ a good format for unfolding?
OBJ keeps faces as polygons rather than only triangles, so hard-surface models unfold into fewer, larger pieces that are quicker to cut and glue.
My OBJ came from a sculpt. Will it work?
It will load, but a dense sculpt makes hundreds of tiny pieces, so reduce it first.
Decimate to a few thousand triangles in your modeling tool, or raise the minimum-detail setting in the studio and let it simplify for you.
