Question 1

Which 3D file formats can I use?

Accepted Answer

OBJ, STL, 3MF, binary FBX 7.x, GLB and glTF. ZIP bundles are also accepted when a model needs related material or texture files. Older ASCII FBX files are rejected with a clear message, so re-export them as OBJ or binary FBX.

Question 2

Can it print my model in color?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If the file carries color, such as a GLB, glTF, 3MF or an OBJ zipped with its .mtl and texture images, that color is printed onto the sheets underneath the cut lines, folds and tabs. You can also set a flat color per material, or switch printed color off for plain outlines. Files with no color of their own, like STL, print as line work with color-coded parts.

Question 3

Do my models get uploaded anywhere?

Accepted Answer

Loading, flattening, editing and exporting all run in your browser, so nothing is uploaded to make a template. The only exception is a project you deliberately save to your account, which is stored privately in your cloud workspace.

Question 4

Will the printed pieces be the right size?

Accepted Answer

Yes, as long as your printer is set to 100% / actual size rather than fit-to-page. Every PDF sheet carries a printed ruler in millimeters, centimeters and inches so you can measure and confirm before cutting a whole build.

Question 5

What paper sizes are supported?

Accepted Answer

US Letter (the default), A4, A3, US Tabloid and a custom size, in portrait or landscape, with margins you control.

Question 6

What happens if the model is bigger than one sheet?

Accepted Answer

Pieces are tiled across as many sheets as needed, and models that are too large for a single piece are split into labeled sub-assemblies (A, B, C) at natural narrow points, joined back together with numbered seams.

Question 7

How complex can a model be?

Accepted Answer

Low poly models give the best results. A few thousand triangles is the practical ceiling, and denser meshes are simplified automatically with a note, since a template with thousands of pieces is not buildable by hand anyway. If your model is a dense sculpt, decimate it first or raise the minimum-detail setting in the studio.

Question 8

Can I use a cutting machine instead of scissors?

Accepted Answer

Yes. SVG export separates cut, fold and tab geometry for Cricut, Silhouette, laser cutters and drag knives, and DXF export targets CAD and CNC workflows.

Question 9

Can I edit the automatic result?

Accepted Answer

That's the point of the studio. Cut or rejoin any edge, drag and rotate pieces, split or merge them, adjust tab width, and re-pack the sheets. The 3D view updates live and can be exploded to show the part breakdown.

Question 10

Can I save my work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Pro members can save up to 25 projects to their account, including the model, settings and edits, and reopen them from My Projects.

Question 11

Does it cost anything?

Accepted Answer

The studio is free to use, and the free plan exports one finished sample sheet. Pro unlocks every sheet and unlimited PDF, SVG and DXF exports for $9 a month or $59 a year.
