Editing

Editing pieces, edges and the sheet layout.

Cut, rejoin, move, rotate, split, merge, and undo any of it.

How do I cut or rejoin an edge?

Select an edge in the 2D or 3D view and choose cut to separate the surface there, or join to fold two pieces back into one.

Cutting creates a seam with a glue tab. Joining removes the tab and turns the seam into a fold. Every cut and join is remembered, so recomputing the layout keeps your decisions.

Cut along sharp edges wherever you can. Seams hide best on corners, and folds read most clearly on flat panels.

How do I move or rotate a piece?

Drag it to move it, and use the rotate control to turn it. Pieces cannot be dragged off the sheet.

If a piece will not fit, rotating it slightly is often enough. A piece that still does not fit at any angle needs to be split, or the whole model needs to be smaller.

What does the Fix it button do?

When a piece is flagged as a problem, Fix it tries repositioning it, then rotating it in steps, then splitting it along a fold, and applies the first option that works.

Can I undo a mistake?

Yes. Undo and redo cover cuts, joins, moves, splits, merges, squeeze, size changes and settings changes. One drag counts as one undo step.

History is cleared when you open a new model or restore a saved session, since those replace the whole project.

How do I use fewer sheets?

Use squeeze to repack the pieces tightly, reduce the finished size, or merge pieces that were cut apart unnecessarily.

Squeeze can be undone if you preferred the previous layout. Empty sheets can be deleted from the sheet selector.

Why is a piece highlighted in red?

It sits outside the printable area or is larger than one page. Move it back inside, rotate it, or split it, and the warning clears as soon as it fits.
